Shunda K has reunited with former Yo! Majesty band mate Shon B on the second single from Shunda K’s upcoming solo debut album, The Most Wanted. The song, “I’m Da Best” marks the first time that the two ladies have appeared on record together since the legendary track, Club Action, which started the whole Yo! Majesty phenomenon in the first place.

Yo! Majesty frontwoman Shunda K’s collaboration with Brooklyn-based producer Kotchy is called Le Passion, Yo!, and it’s available as a free digital-only EP that recently came in as the number three most added hip-hop record at CMJ college radio.

I tend to not like most folksy, craftsy, text-and-graphics-based art, but British artist William Edmonds does it really well. His images and ideas are actually compelling and often weird, way better than just a bird silk-screened on a piece of drift wood. Read more

An anonymous public school teacher known as Mrs. Q, following Morgan Spurlock’s lead, decided to eat every school lunch served to her for the duration of 2010. At the risk of her job, she documents her experience on her blog, which features photographs of the atrocious, shrink-wrapped, processed poison that she and her students are forced to choke down every school day.
I love Brooklyn band Durty Nanas. They were formed in 2005 and play street spaces, galleries, lofts, and block parties. So I guess they are the ‘real’ Bloc party.
The latest in the Stephanie Simek jewellery collection is the Powder necklace, a pearlized Turbo Cinereus shell with tiny holes drilled into the bottom and filled with a sparkling silver-colored powder. Read more
