What 80s indie kid didn’t have at least a bit of a crush on whacky pop starlet Kate Bush during her Wuthering Heights days? I mean, really. The hair, the movements, the bizarre waves from her semi-crouched stance. Her other big hit, Babooshka, wasn’t half bad either. And this version, by the sultry kitsch Romanian singer Miss Platnum, does it justice. Just.
For someone like me, who’s been a HUGE Alfred Hitchcock fan all of her life, this is an absolute must-have: The Hitchcock Birds Barbie Doll. YEs, finally a barbie who’s not for the birds. (Sorry, Mattel!) Sadly, this collector’s item seems to be sold out already. Maybe it’s time for a ‘Dial M for Murder’ edition, then?

Driven by a wide spectrum of influences, the music of Brass Bed moves easily through an eclectic mix of genres: from alt-country ballads and progressive rock hooks, to sticky-sweet, heart-felt lyrics, and dissonant experimental freak-outs. This ‘communication prosthesis’ by designer Sascha Nordmeyer is hilarious and awesome. I want to wear one to a job interview.
In 2008, graphic designer Becky Edgington and illustrator Sarah Beetson created two limited-edition packs of playing cards featuring images from Beetson’s exhibition, 50 Bucks: Bring On The Sluts. The images were selected from almost 500 small artworks created on moleskine paper, inspired by vintage pornography and a trip to Japan. Read more
