Massachusetts-based artist Caleb Neelon is staging his first West Coast exhibition — Caleb Neelon Is Working On It — at West Hollywood’s Carmichael Gallery between May 10 and June 1. He was the author and illustrator of the children’s book, Lilman Makes a Name for Himself, and has a new book of his art coming out this year through Ginko called Caleb Neelon’s Book of Awesome. An anonymous public school teacher known as Mrs. Q, following Morgan Spurlock’s lead, decided to eat every school lunch served to her for the duration of 2010. At the risk of her job, she documents her experience on her blog, which features photographs of the atrocious, shrink-wrapped, processed poison that she and her students are forced to choke down every school day.
It’s the final, sultry day of Barcelona’s experimental sound-fest, Sonar, and weary punters are gazing listlessly at an empty, smoke-filled stage. Before long, a vocalist, beatboxer and grand pianist stride on, and what follows is a startling and, at times, deeply melancholic cabaret-electronic hybrid, prompting jaws to drop and delighting the drowsy. Meet Khan of Finland: ‘I tell stories about my everyday life; they are songs about love, pain, party and spirituality. I would call it bionic blues’.
Sao Paulo designer Andreia Chaves created these extraordinary ‘invisible shoes‘, which are made from a ‘faceted mirrored surface allowing the shoe to reflect different angles of the environment around it thus camouflaging itself with its surroundings’. Read more

Now this is fun. This 3D watch dial actually jumps to life. The dial is a modern version of the 19th century art form of lithophanes: carved porcelain sheets that, when lit, deliver astoundingly detailed images. When the pusher is activated, the dial springs to life in 3D, with an LED light and afterglow effect. Read more
