The 10 suite hotel couldn’t be more perfectly located, situated on the harbour at Oriental Parade and across the road from Te Papa museum (the iconic Museum of New Zealand). The best bars, cafes and restaurants are right on Ohtel’s doorstep.

My room had a commanding view over Wellington habour, with a small balcony from which to watch the comings and goings on what has been labelled the finest habour in the world. The amenities are eco-focused and solidly Kiwi in origin. There was barely a thing out of place or not considered in this spacious room. My desk was a beautiful wood number, no doubt keenly spotted by the owner who has an eye for quality and eclectic furniture.
