Oh boy! Andy Howard, one third of the Lost At E Minor editing team and the brains and brawn behind the Bullet Web Studio team, has been travelling the world over the past six months or so on an adventure of a lifetime which has seen him visit some truly remote corners of this vast planet that we call … errr … Mother Earth. In the process, Andy has also, somehow, managed to reinvent himself as the hottest male gigolo this side of Zoolander. In the nicest possible way, of course. Yes, ladies, roll up, roll up, take your place in the queue for a date with Andy Howard’s alter-ego, Craig The Model, a fit serving of mullet-wearing, vegemite eating, VB drinking Australiana. Berlin-based conceptual illustrator Christoph Niemann’s recent LEGO post on the New York Times blog is fantastic. He recently moved back to Germany after eleven years in New York, and apparently, he misses the city a lot. Read more
Sparks’ album Kimono My House is a demented mix of hard rock, pop, glam, new wave, and baroque pop. Why this record never caught on in the States I’ll never know. The songs will get stuck in your head and prevent you from sleeping. Oh yeah, and the keyboard player has a nice mustache too, as evidenced by this track above — This Town Ain’t Big Enough.
This house on two levels of medium size was built on a hill on a trapezoidal plot in a suburb in the district of Hyogo, overlooking Osaka Bay, with whitewashed walls and a sloping pitched roof. Read more
We spoke to Dopepope about his latest Metal Man Project: ‘In the fifth grade, I drew a comic called Metal Man about a humanoid robot that went crazy and pulled knives on people. It’s the most ridiculous thing ever. I was a kid! Anyway, I found the artwork and simply traced the head and the logo exactly as I had them and fell in love with the iconic shapes they’ve created’. Hotly tipped by a handful of soothsayers to take 2009 by storm, Trembling Bells are an altogether different and refreshing musical experience to much of what seems to excite people at the moment. On first listen, it’s fairly easy to ignore — one could casually shrug it off as some limp take on Scottish baroque folk. Yet, there is something more to it. Rarely do you hear that high-pitched, warbling voice in mainstream music. Likewise the marching band cacophony going on in the background is both daring and highly intriguing.

These scarves designed by Sarah Swash and her boyfriend Toshio Yamanaka always feature their whippet and play on a sense of urban sophistication inspired by the surrounds of their East London studio. Definitely a justified indulgence.
