Photography is not just about taking random pictures, it’s about making images come to life and showing everyone how to appreciate even the simplest of things in life. Allister Esguerra is a Filipino events photographer based in Ho Chi Minh City.

He works at a Vietnamese company as a Sales and Marketing consultant and a part-time English Teacher at night. He’s also a part-time events photographer for an online magazine.

The work of Ho Chi Mnh-based, French illustrator, Nadège David, is stunning: intricate patterns woven deep amongst gently rolling, and pleasantly muted, colours.

Madeline Valentine creates the most haunting illustrations. What makes her work so amazing is the juxtaposition of her soft, dreamlike aesthetic with the thoroughly intense subject matter that she employs, a contrast that could easily come off as contrived if not executed so beautifully. I find myself especially drawn to her Vietnam series, which are utterly breathtaking in their simplicity and intensity. The restraint is what makes them so truly haunting, like bits and pieces of fuzzy memories that one can never entirely forget. Only one year out of school, I can’t wait to see where Madeline’s work goes from here.
