Ann Arbor-based indie quintet Tally Hall just released this impressive video for their song, Ruler of Everything. It kind of reminds me of an indie version of a Tool video.

Giraffe Manor is like something from a storybook. Only better, because it’s not an act of fiction! Located in Nairobi, this boutique hotel has a herd of Rothschild Giraffe that you don’t have to simply admire from afar. In fact, they might just join you for breakfast!

Interior design website, Apartment Therapy, just posted some amazing pictures of ’70s rock stars in their parents’ homes. My favorite is of David Crosby and his dad [below]. The two look so completely opposite of each other that it’s hard to believe that it’s Crosby’s real dad. They also look like they’re barely concealing the contempt they have for each other. Crosby’s father was an Academy-Award-winning cinematographer who shot Tabu and High Noon, amongst other well-known films. Read more

The Phenomenal Handclap Band is a collection of musicians and artists from Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn who perform live as an eight-member powerhouse, creating an eye-popping spectacle more akin to a spiritual church revival than a rock show. We have their single, 15 to 20, available for free download via the Music Download section of Lost At E Minor.

Pencils made from recycled newspaper

The problem with awesome things like these pencils made out of recycled newspaper is that you almost don’t want to use them.

On this Virgin Mary HaloTech watch, the dial is a modern version of the nineteenth century art form of lithophanes, carved porcelain sheets that, when lit, deliver astoundingly detailed images. When the pusher is activated, the dial springs to life in 3D. The watch features a light-up dial, LED light, and afterglo effect. Read more
