Australian band Van She had a cultish hit single a little while back with their synth-pop track Kelly. The voyeuristic film clip was simple enough — girls called Kelly kissing boys — but it was strangely beguiling. We asked the guys where the creative inspiration for the clip came from: ‘We worked on that video with a friend of ours who has a really strong style in terms of Grading and set plotting and location spotting, a style which was perfect for the song Kelly. At the time we were, and still are, really in to movies like the Breakfast Club, Virgin Suicides, and anything that has that lost sense of nostalgia’. Read more

This one is on marionette maker, Pablo Cano, who uses ‘mundane objects to create magic on a string’. And he does. We hope you enjoy!
Formed in New York and now based in Rotterdam and Berlin, SMAQ is a collaborative studio for architecture and urbanism by architects Sabine Müller and Andreas Quednau. Here they have created an interesting installation called Bad (bath) in the Solitude Palace Gardens in Stuttgart with the premise of creating a usable sculpture which entwines a 1000 metre long garden hose throughout a timber structure. I’ve heard whispers that Kings Of Convenience, the Norwegian duo of folkloric proportions, have split. I hope they’re unfounded, but like all good rumours, where there’s smoke, there’s fire. Perhaps Erland Oye is enjoying the unlimited scope of his solo career too much? And then there’s his new submorphic guitar pop project, The Whitest Boy Alive, to keep him occupied. The whitest boy alive? Indeed he is. But damn the guy can sing.
With his heavy, all-protein diet, Leatherface probably needs to exercise a little, so this Nike sneaker made from human skin leather should suit him nicely. Actually, this piece is a grotesque and almost too realistic shoe made from latex as a comment on the horror of sweatshop labor
