On my quest to seek out the ultimate beach spots around the globe, I stumbled upon La Canzone del Mare on a recent trip to Isle of Capri. You could say that La Canzone del Mare is the equivalent of Icebergs in Bondi. Well, almost. Situated in Maria Piccola, the bathing establishment is the perfect spot to spend a summer’s day. We found this place by accident when we exploring Capri during a day trip from Positano – approximately a 30 minute boat ride.

A little more luxurious than the historic Icebergs (isn’t everything in Europe?), La Canzone del Mare is decked out with 2 pools, plush sun chairs, umbrellas, beach cabins, towels and access to a private beach. What more could a summer-lover want? Looking over the Faraglioni and the Siren’s Rock, the views are breathtaking. The rich cerulean blue sea stretches for miles and you actually feel a million miles away (exactly how you want to feel when travelling). And if you are in the mood for a bite after a long day of sunbathing, you can enjoy a scrumptious culinary delight at the world-class restaurant Canzone del Mare. Overlooking the magnificent sea view terrace, the restaurant offers an yummy array of local fish and Mediterranean delicacies as well as a well-researched wine list. Approximately 20 euro for entry, it was money well spent. You definitely need to add this to your must-do list in Italy.

While you’re working 9-5, someone out there is relaxing on their very own private island. That someone could be Richard Branson on his Necker Island, but it could also be that guy whose cubicle next to yours has been empty for a week now.
