Years after his death, Alexander Girard is is experiencing a resurgence — or maybe he’s just getting his rightful recognition. Undoutbly one of the greatest pattern makers, environmental and exhibition designers of the twentieth century, Girard favored abstract and geometric forms, typically put together in bright colours and patterns. Urban Outfitters have just released an Alexander Girard collection, transforming iconic designs into items for the home so that they can be enjoyed on a daily basis.
Toronto-based illustrator Jessica Fortner creates really elaborate 3D scenes that she photographs to make final images that resemble stills from a claymation movie. Read more

I have known Hayden for almost twenty years. He has always released quality music and that is why he can wait four years between releases and his fans are still there. His latest album — In Field & Town — went straight into heavy rotation in our home and I think will extend his fan base further than even he might like.
I think Anne Geddes spent ten years in the desert with Dr. Seuss doing hallucinogens. She woke up one searing Nevada morning and decided her new name was Peggy Noland. Then she moved to Kansas City and released the line that is currently featured on her website. At least, that’s what I think.

Now this is fun. This 3D watch dial actually jumps to life. The dial is a modern version of the 19th century art form of lithophanes: carved porcelain sheets that, when lit, deliver astoundingly detailed images. When the pusher is activated, the dial springs to life in 3D, with an LED light and afterglow effect. Read more
