UK brother duo Disclosure, or Guy and Howard Lawrence as they are known individually, are one of my favourite acts to surface recently on the electronic music scene. First grabbing my attention back in 2012 with their killer tune Control, they’re back now with the release of their music video for White Noise, featuring AlunaGeorge. British Sea Power’s new music video for their song Machinery Of Joy is everything I want right now as spring fever begins to hit where I live. The relaxing shots of a sweater-wearing, dark haired girl riding through the country side makes me want to stop being productive and go for a long bike ride. Unfortunately, I think my bike tires are a little to flat at the moment. Perhaps I’ll find a bike pump later today and take off as well.

Bridgman is a London-based luxury garden furniture supplier which came up with a great idea: why not build an actual piece of garden furniture? Literally. Every weekend on the Hackney Marshes in London, UK, hundreds of people participate in football matches as part of the Hackney and Leyton Sunday League. This mini-series is about the home-made thrown together referee attire, the individuality and personality to a bloke that’s always seen as the bad guy…maybe it is about that £30 for the 90 minutes of abuse from a load of hungover kids? But I doubt it. Let’s raise a metaphorical glass. In a game full of false idols, these guys are the working class heroes a lot of these kids need.

Nexus and Chris O’Shea transport children to an interactive woodland world with their new activity space at the Royal London hospital. Chris O’Shea, the artist and interaction designer, has collaborated with digital production company, Nexus Interactive Arts, to create ‘Woodland Wiggle’, an innovative interactive installation at Europe’s newest hospital, The Royal London, which helps children benefit from the healing powers of art and play.

‘Woodland Wiggle’ is a pioneering interactive game displayed on a television the size of a room. It allows children to enter a storybook illustrated world enabling them to paint; play music; and trigger sun, rain, snow and rainbows with animated animal characters across diifferent scenes.O’Shea used the latest creative technologies, including custom software written in C++ using open Frameworks and an Xbox Kinect camera, to bring the unimaginable to life by reflecting the children’s video image within the scene in real-time, allowing them escape the reality of their daily treatment and interact with the exciting environment.

The Eden Project is essentially the largest greenhouse on the planet. Imagine a huge glass domed area that can hold the Tower of London inside. Cornwall’s monstrously huge RainForest enclosed environment, or Biome, was built on the remains of an exhausted china clay quarry. Today the bubble shaped structure is home to over 1 million plants. Now that’s a rags to riches story.

British photographer Tom Broadbent has spent the last few years travelling around the UK developing his latest work, At Home With the Furries, by sticking his beak into the everyday lives of a group of dess-up-lovers known as Furries. What are Furries, you say? Everyday people who dress up in elaborate furry animal costumes who meet up around town to chat and hang out. Richard Harris has a date with death. Or several dates, actually. His exhibit, Death: A Self Portrait, has been running at The Wellcome Trust exhibition, London, since last November. It’s a collection of art pieces from different cultures and time periods. They are varied and intriguing, and when viewed as a series, they come together nicely to form cohesive thoughts about death. So remember, seize the day while you still can. The show ends on February 24.

This little outfit working out of Bristol are producing every delta blues aficionado’s dream piece of kit. The cigar box guitar used to be commonplace among African-American musicians in the impoverished American South, who around the time of the Great Depression were too poor to afford the real thing. Like the washboard, it was a case of using everyday scrap material, and the sound complimented the stripped down aesthetic of early blues music. Drummond and Hammond are breathing new life into this, and are working on other neat little projects, including this mini amp made out of ration tins from Gallipoli.

A dramatic love story has to be clever enough to still give you smiles. Tabu has it – photography like no other with a magnificent story that makes you want to walk along the river looking for crocodiles.
