As summer descends on Rome, the city readies itself for an onslaught of tourists that will saturate its cobble-stoned streets for several hot, sticky months. For a refreshing and satisfying respite from the heat — though not necessarily the crowds — visitors and locals alike pass the masses near the Trevi Fountain and make their way up to a small, tucked away side street for the best gelato Rome has to offer: il gelato di San Crispino. Attention Asian fetishists: Sanrio is about to open a Hello Kitty theme park in the city of Anji in Zhejiang Province, China. It will be the first of such parks outside of Japan.
Is the soul colored or is it black and white? I find this quite confusing, since I believe that a colored soul is necessary for producing colored things. Tyr are a great Viking metal band from the Faroe Islands, a tiny nation between Greenland and the British Islands. They sing in Faroese, Danish, and English, crafting amazingly catchy songs inspired by Dream Theater, mid-era Metallica, and Black Sabbath.
The Virtual Shoe Museum was initiated by Liza Snook in 2004. Once the idea was born, a long search began for designers, photographers and publishers connected to shoes. New friendships developed and their mailbox filled with loads of material on fantastic shoes, art and design on shoes. The Shoe featured above is the Electric Light Shoe by Strawberry Frog.
