I always knew it was going to be a good day when I woke up to the aroma of maple syrup and the tunes of Fleetwood Mac. Happy times in the kitchen with Dad were to follow. Bringing his mastery to the pancake world, he would whip up shapes of Micky Mouse, hearts, and even spell out my name. No matter where I am, when a get a whiff of that candied smell of enchantment, I smile in memory of Papa’s Pancakes and a time of pure innocence. Alas, a new smell arrived under my nose the other day. It was one that exuded the mystery of a place far from earth, mixed with milky blends to bring you a genuine sense of comfort. Read more

If you’re in New Orleans and you love barbeque, make sure to stop by The Joint in the Bywater neighborhood. Their brisket is outstanding, and for under $11 for a pound of the fatty, delicious beef and two sides, it’s a super good deal. Their ribs are also pretty good, but seriously, the brisket is the jam.
His name is Marshall Ace Drummond, which makes his initials MAD. At just over 8 months old, you don’t need to be clucky to appreciate his outfits: from Baby Gap to Cheap Monday, and sometimes not much more than a cheeky grin. This bub oozes charisma and his clothes suit him to a tee (pun intended).
Oh, ok. The Church’s eerily translucent Under The Milky Way has just burst into my headphones like a thousand jolts of sweet pop lightening. It’s nice to know that wistful introspection is only ever but three chords and a melancholic chorus away.
