Strip away the kitsch cinematography and forget for just a moment that these poignant and emotive words are coming out of the mouth of a fourteen pound pile of felt, and this song written by Paul Williams and Kenneth Ascher is actually kinda moving: a wistful musing on the delicateness of life and our eternal search as mortal beings for whatever it is that we just can’t find.
Detroit designer Beatriz Tellez, has launched a new line of dangerous necklaces. Handcrafted with suede, nails and antique chandelier parts, each piece is packaged in a trim, black booklet and reflects inspiration drawn from industrial and military aesthetics. Wear at your own risk!
UK artist Jennifer Collier makes intricate, detailed, and accurate replicas of shoes, cameras, garments, and other household items out of stitched paper. Part of the strength of her work is her careful choices for paper, utilizing musical notes, vintage images, and printed patterns to great effect. Read more
The Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project involved fourteen countries around the world filling crates with the best of their local nightlife and exchanging their country’s crate with another. We were there all the way, following Australia’s involvement. And the final stage, with Brazil and Australia swapping crates, was a beauty! As this video attests.

Caught The Dust Dive the other night at Glasslands. They’re a bunch of hippies, but even I have to admit, they’re atmospheric live show – consisting of violin, gently strummed guitar, a few piano and sampler twinkles here and there, and sound samples from the found footage projected behind the band – is really powerful, like the warm rush of fond memories that hits you an instant before the mushroom cloud annihilates everything. Frontman Bryan Zimmerman even plays the musical saw, and you really can’t argue with that.

My Baltimore friends might appreciate this t-shirt homage to Billy Ripkin, brother of Cal Ripkin Jr., whose 1989 Fleer card showed him holding a bat with the words ‘fuck face’ written on it.
