TWTH for The World is Tired to Hate (Mahatma Gandhi). This brand, created in Brooklyn, has launched artists like Alex Show and Mat Mych. Today, some TWTH t-shirts are estimated at $200, depending on the model year and the signature of the artist. TWTH now offers a collection of graphic t-shirts handmade from $35 to $75. The brand moved to Europe and has disseminated these t-shirts in the underground shops outside the channels of commerce and officials. The list of stores, called the T-list, will not be disclosed.

So it was good to see that Marc and the gang have just released a new collection, Midnight in the Mojave, which continues their obsession with all things psychedelic. The range is inspired by ‘bad trips, drifters, and desert dreaming in the middle of nowhere’ and features the work of artists including Zach Johnsen, Tim Laing, Evan Meister, and Keenan Marshall Keller, alongside Das Monk designer Marc Hendrick. Illustrator Hope Gangloff has a stack of her ‘election’ tees from the previous US election available for sale which she created with the talented New York-based artist (and her hubbie, no less!), Ben Degen. Even though they were done to mark Bush’s reappointment, they still kinda sum up her mood on the tussle between Obama and McCain. ‘If the election gets stolen’, she says. ‘What say we burn down the capital instead of blogging about it?’. Far be it for me to present myself as being an expert in t-shirts, but heck, this range of tees from Portland label, Monsieur T is just pure fun. I’ve been getting about in one this week, and have had more admiring glances than in a lifetime of wearing poorly fitted sweatshirts. Thank goodness for creativity. And for the soft touch of crisp white cotton. There are very limited quantities of each design available on the Monsieur T website. Run, don’t walk.

Ok, so I’m speaking from first-hand perspective here because as I type on this warm morning, with the faintest slither of sun creeping its way through the privacy blinds in my living room, I’m wearing the very same t shirt that the dude in this photo is wearing. Yup, the same damn one. Perhaps I’m not looking quite as groomed as he is, but hey, it’s a start. Australian fashion label Das Monk is my new favourite t shirt label and this t shirt is more comfortable to wear that a thousand pairs of Ozone socks. Das Monk? Yes it is.
