TWTH for The World is Tired to Hate (Mahatma Gandhi). This brand, created in Brooklyn, has launched artists like Alex Show and Mat Mych. Today, some TWTH t-shirts are estimated at $200, depending on the model year and the signature of the artist. TWTH now offers a collection of graphic t-shirts handmade from $35 to $75. The brand moved to Europe and has disseminated these t-shirts in the underground shops outside the channels of commerce and officials. The list of stores, called the T-list, will not be disclosed.

Barcelona label Kinkiking have launched their new collection, Kinkiking Industries, which consists of four t-shirts representing imaginary businesses. The team behind the label take their visual inspiration from comics, music, design and graffiti.

Artist Bill McRight just designed an awesome Dragon Wizard Weed t-shirt for Philly-based Print Liberation. Check out McRight’s other work as well. They’re like folk art from a mountain tribe of mutants.

Cool Aussie label, Junior Massive, have some awesome t shirt designs up on the website, including these ones above, which allude liberally to their interest in music, art, and design. The label is the creation of Seshan Moodley, who — back in the day — was the guitarist with Sydney rap-punk band, Parkside Killers, who supported the likes of Ice T, Body Count, Beastie Boys.

Ok, a confession, it’s getting to the point where Das Monk t shirts are pretty much all I have in my wardrobe. I love them: the designs, the fit. So it was good to see that Marc and the gang have just released a new collection, Midnight in the Mojave, which continues their obsession with all things psychedelic. The range is inspired by ‘bad trips, drifters, and desert dreaming in the middle of nowhere’ and features the work of artists including Zach Johnsen, Tim Laing, Evan Meister, and Keenan Marshall Keller, alongside Das Monk designer Marc Hendrick. Illustrator Hope Gangloff has a stack of her ‘election’ tees from the previous US election available for sale which she created with the talented New York-based artist (and her hubbie, no less!), Ben Degen. Even though they were done to mark Bush’s reappointment, they still kinda sum up her mood on the tussle between Obama and McCain. ‘If the election gets stolen’, she says. ‘What say we burn down the capital instead of blogging about it?’. Hmmm, now there’s an idea.

For visual people who rely on shapes and imagination, this eye test t-shirt by Hong Kong-based studio, WEME, is a perfect conversation starter. It’s available through the Lost At E Minor online store for just US$30.

There’s a fun range of prints up on the Boo Ware site, a Sydney based t-shirt label that began selling at the legendary Paddington Markets in 2003. You can still find them there every Saturday morning. Their tees are ‘soft and comfortable with original, quirky prints’.

Far be it for me to present myself as being an expert in t-shirts, but heck, this range of tees from Portland label, Monsieur T is just pure fun. I’ve been getting about in one this week, and have had more admiring glances than in a lifetime of wearing poorly fitted sweatshirts. Thank goodness for creativity. And for the soft touch of crisp white cotton. There are very limited quantities of each design available on the Monsieur T website. Run, don’t walk.

Ok, so I’m speaking from first-hand perspective here because as I type on this warm morning, with the faintest slither of sun creeping its way through the privacy blinds in my living room, I’m wearing the very same t shirt that the dude in this photo is wearing. Yup, the same damn one. Perhaps I’m not looking quite as groomed as he is, but hey, it’s a start.
