Let’s face it guys, briefcases are boring. Or are they? Takumi Shimamura has created this stunning wooden briefcase that turns heads but isn’t so bright or funky that it hurts your eyes either. It’s a beautiful twist on an overlooked everyday item.

 

Street artist Ekta, who is currently based in Gothenburg, Sweden, has a pretty distinctive style consisting of huge fields of colors, often not separated by outlines, making for elusive and mysterious, yet distinctly figurative forms. Read more

We love this idea. When was the last time you sent a letter? Ivan Cash wants to do something about it. He’s kicked off a project to revive the art of actually handwriting letters. He’ll take any email you send him, handwrite it into a letter, then actually mail it to anywhere in the world. All for free. This art project only lasts a month, so get cracking. Read more

Seldom has black humour been done so well. On the surface, this film about the everyday lives of some unusually mundane characters, sounds extraordinarily boring. But it is instead a cutting comment on the absurdity and drudgery of everyday life. The characters try to break out or change their lives without success, and the results are bleak and hilarious. An anonymous public school teacher known as Mrs. Q, following Morgan Spurlock’s lead, decided to eat every school lunch served to her for the duration of 2010. At the risk of her job, she documents her experience on her blog, which features photographs of the atrocious, shrink-wrapped, processed poison that she and her students are forced to choke down every school day.
