Australian illustrator Kirra Jamison’s usual decorative work, exuding mythical creatures and magical landscapes, has taken a turn to intricate psychedelic illustrations. While some pieces are minimal, there’s no shortage of meticulous detail in her latest series, Surrender Star. Catch it at Firstdraft Gallery in Sydney’s Surry Hills, September 8-26.

Courtney Brims is a talented young Australian artist with an exhibition of new running at Sydney’s Monster Children Gallery until August 7th.

The work of Australian artist David Capra is exhibited until June 27th at Sydney’s Gaffa Gallery, featuring a ‘market stall of spirit-finger gloves, anointed toothpaste, glory boxes, steaks and hand-made coasters’. Of his work, he says: ‘My work is a result of exploring Outsider art and contemporary craft practices. It will take the form of a market store. Making the work was like taking steps towards working more intrinsically, working against creative sensibilities I had developed, resulting in objects that are more of a direct and honest response to the world.

Kareena Zerefos is having her first solo show in Sydney at the MTV Gallery opening Tuesday June 3. The exhibition will bring a collection of her recent illustrative work capturing themes of ‘isolation and escapism, through the depiction of children and their imagination’. Works will include twenty five framed pieces in pencil, biro, gouache, ink and letraset on archival paper, as well as a series of pencil sketches on pianola scrolls. The exhibition runs until June 10.
