The ever-prolific Olly Moss, who has done too many cool projects — like the <a href="a href="http://www.lostateminor.com/tag/olly-moss-star-wars-poster/" target="_blank"" target="_blank">Star Wars poster and these fantastic silhouettes — also claims to be on a ‘continuing quest to ruin super heroes for everyone’. There are only two in the series so far, but the English graphic designer has already ruined Spidey for us. Though the other one of Wolverine (or is it really… Batman?) is pretty clever too. He’s very good at this.

Take Marvel and DC’s best-known superheroes, dress them in two stark toned colors and chop them out into bold stencil styles, and you have these iconic posters from Australian designer MozCreative. Coming in a range of styles, dictated by the superhero’s signature colors and characteristics, the posters are as brash and confident as their subjects, and are a must-have for any dark comic book fanatic.

From kites to model aircraft, we fly all manners of things for fun. So it seems only natural that someone had to go ahead and actually make a human-sized flying superhero. Uh huh, he’s all of 78” tall in height and stretches out to a wingspan of 47”. His flying style is ‘stable yet aerobatic’. He’s got a boring name though (RcSuperhero), but hey, it’s still pretty amazing. Even if you live in a pretty safe spot on Earth, you definitely need a superhero in your neighbourhood — though you’ll probably have to worry about how to crash-land one without collateral damage. We’ll leave you to that.

With all of the superhero movies coming out this Summer, I think this poster series by Poland-based designer Alex Litovka is keeping right up with the trends. Each poster is of a cityscape with a superhero in the shape of that superhero’s logo. The minimalistic design and recognizable imagery tell a clear and concise story of each of these six characters.

KoldcastTV ran a post recently on the twenty-three nerdiest Superheroes: ‘Superheroes, even the ones from other planets, represent the best aspects of humanity. They are the strongest, the fastest, and the smartest in their fictional worlds, and they often have powers that us normal folk can only dream of. So it’s no surprise that the nerds among us often aspire to be like these powerful characters. But for some, it goes beyond a simple affinity. Many nerds take their superhero worship to the extreme, crafting intricate costumes to complete their fantasy worlds’. Indeed.

When I was a kid, I collected Archie comics. Yup, those cheery, wondrous excursions into surburban, middle-America. For someone growing up around the somewhat tame beaches of Sydney, Australia, this window into the girl vs boy fixation of American teenagers — as reflected in the bright eyed adventures of Archie and his crew — bordered on the obsessive. I had garbage bags of them, comic book after comic book piled up and dog eared from repeated reading. Oh, and I had a crush on Betty. But that’s another story altogether. This documentary, Confessions of a Superhero, which chronicles the day to day existence of four faux superheroes panhandling on Hollywood Boulevard, makes me feel a whole lot better about that traumatic day at age sixteen when, convinced I had finally outgrown them, I packed up my entire collection of Archie comics and sold it to a kid down the street. Sigh. I still recall the sense of loss that enveloped me as I handed the bags over in exchange for $50 and a thick wad of football cards. But now I’m grateful for that moment of belated epiphany. Afterall, I could’ve easily ended up sporting a red wig, op shop clothes and flogging fake smiles and hugs on LA’s tackiest strip.
