These plush animals sure wear their history proudly. Photographed by Dublin-based Mark Nixon, this series of well-loved, thread-bare creatures are both haunting and sweet. Their missing eyes and limbs send shivers down my spine, but when I stop to think about the child that loved the creature to pieces, the carnage makes sense.

One of my prized plush toys recently got an eye ripped out by my nephew, so my friend pointed me to this fine collection of monocles I could get for it. Looking at these offbeat and somewhat mythical-looking creations by Etsy shop SAnomalous, I am now convinced the eye was lost so I could make this happy discovery.
