Frank Stockton finally has some great prints for sale through Gallery Nucleus in Alhambra. These are reproductions of some pretty racy images he did for Penthouse awhile back. Who says the guys are just reading those mags for the photos?
Mariana Monteagudo’s work reveals an element of irony, not only in her unprejudiced use of iconography, but also in the way the artist takes features from toys, figures designed to arise tenderness, with their big heads and moving expressions. Read more

Seriously, all you need to know is about Bob Bob Richard is this: You press a button at your table, and these waiters dressed in powder pink suit jackets will bring you champagne. Go. Now. Just don’t have a break-up date there, the champagne doesn’t taste as good then.
Philly indie rock group Dr Dog recently compiled a crackling Secret Playlist for us which included props for songs by Cass McCombs, Thunderclap Newman, and the new time rag star, A.A Bundy, about whose track, Vice Rag, keyboardist Zach Miller wrote: ‘Good enough to be a classic old timey melody, except with more contemporary lyrical vices added. Oh man, close your eyes if you will and transport yourself to a place far, far away; where disco is in, polyester is up, and everyone bows long and deep to the gravitational pull of the almighty afro. Sister Self-Doubt by The Shakes takes me there. It takes me front and centre, feeling that slippery, incidenary groove as it crunches my spine and works its way to my feet. Hmmm, the feet. It’s always in the feet. And now I’m dancing and twisting, onwards and upwards, like a manic spinning top thinking nothing of today and even less of tomorrow.
