In September 2010, I was offered a scholarship to attend the Songwriting Course at Engelsholm Folk High School. Engelsholm is a castle from the 15th century and the Folk High School concept is quite a beautiful thing: it’s not about grades but about soaking yourself in the subject of your choice. They always have several international students each semester, so if you’re into songwriting, electronic music, glass blowing, painting, ceramics and/or jewelry and would like to live on a magical castle from the 15th century with lake view, go for it. You can take short and long courses.

When I saw the De La Muerte treatment for the video of The Angel of the North, I knew straight away that they were the right directors to make it, going beyond the narrative, at times subverting it, keeping its mystery and turning it almost into a kind of visual treasure hunt. I’ll leave it up to people’s imaginations to decide what the song is about, but the clues are there in the video if you look hard enough.
