Toronto-based Solvent’s latest full-length album, Subject to Shift, is out soon on Ghostly International and is another glitchy, robotic masterpiece of pop surrealism, ‘a mix of dystopian, acid-tinged futurism and bittersweet romantic ache’, bowing gently to the beautiful template he set earlier with his radio-friendly hummer, My Radio. Check out the Mitgang Audio Remix of that track below.

The debut album from Danish duo, Syntaks, is called Ylajali and is a sublimely glitchy, melodically wavering, synth-driven piece of pure sonic bliss. But don’t take our word for it. Think Boards of Canada, think Solvent. Or don’t think at all. Just switch off and slowly drift away. Toronto-based producer, and co-founder of the awesome Suction Records label, Jason Amm (aka Solvent) creates ‘robot music too complex and contemporary to sound like it was recorded in 1981, and too seeped in the time-honoured traditions of melody, songwriting and hands-on synthesis to be lost in the overcrowded world of IDM’. This uplifting, propulsive track, My Radio, is simply massive.

I never played Popopop 1, if there is one, but I can’t imagine a game much more simple than this. Just drop detonating balls next to balls of the same color to pop them. I feel like someone out there is getting way to much pleasure playing this game.

Cheese and Burger a great site to check out, with about 30 different burger options. Here you can find a selection of States with different burger recipes from each, along with a voiceover of a man who sounds like Mike Buffer. Fun.
Baltimore’s Teeth Mountain create pulsing, shamanistic, tribal-sounding tracks from a bunch of floor toms, cello, mandolins, keyboards, saws, and whatever else they can get their hands on. The chaotic music they make is noisy, roughly-hewn, and impulsive-sounding, but that seems to be the point. They’re trying to evoke a sort of post-apocalyptic primitivism. It will be interesting to see where this collective takes their aesthetic.

is it TooLate? Is it? Never! This Italian-made watch has a beautiful minimal design, comes in lots of colors, is water proof and goes for less than $30. Hot damn! 10,000 of them were sold in the first ten days after their release and half a million in it’s first year of distribution. Apparently the Italians are wearing two or three of them together as part of some bizarre fashion clique. Wonder if the rest of the world will catch on?

Baltimore Mural by Josh Van Horne
My friend Josh Van Horne, a local Baltimore artist, did this amazing mural in our neighborhood that depicts the history of this warehouse-laden area.
Made from 100 percent organic cotton and eco-friendly, this super soft tee celebrates a sinister world of kaleidoscopic colours and ripples of psychedelia, of serenading Queens, of dancing flamingos, of unimaginable euphoria. It’s all the work of Sydney label, Das Monk and it’s available through the Lost At E Minor online store for just US$40. Now, there’s one hell of a Christmas present, even if we do say so ourselves!
