There are two kinds of people in the world: those that LOVE sleep and can’t get enough of it, and those other weirdos. Some people just don’t get the desire to sleep. That desire to nap in the early afternoon or to sleep in until midday on a weekend (or a weekday, who are we kidding?). But that’s ok. There’s someone who does understand the wonders of sleep – artist Landysh Askhmetzyanova.
As kids, we all got naptime. We fought against it. Naps were the absolutely worst because you weren’t tired. You could prove it! But that age has caught up with you, so has wisdom. And, the wise nap. But society says adults are too busy to break up their day with a nap.
Wow, we never knew taking an afternoon nap was so badass. Scientists have now proven that the serial nappers among us are really living life dangerously. According to the researchers who studied 16,000 people in England over a period of 13 years, those aged 40-79 who napped daily at less than an hour each time, […]
Turkish researchers have found that people who tend to sleep on their right side have mellower dreams filled with relief, joy, peace and love. They also wake up better rested and less dysfunctional during their waking hours. Although we are not privy to the dreams of those who sleep on their left, medical studies have indicated this isn’t a good position to snooze in as it tends to add physical stress and pressure to our heart.
A bunch of researchers have found that participants who were told their sleep quality was below average performed significantly worse on brain performance compared to their peers. Included in the study was a verbal fluency test where participants scored way better when told their sleep quality was above average. Looks to be the case that […]
According to a new study, it appears that certain phobias can be manipulated and even banished while a subject sleeps. The study involved showing the participants a scary image accompanied by a smell. The participants then took a nap during which time they were exposed to the smell. When they awoke, they were again shown […]

It’s designed to wrap around any shape so as to allow its inhabitant to curl up and sleep anywhere he likes without feeling smothered. The basic unit of the textile is […]
In their book I Used to Be a Design Student: 50 Graphic Designers Then and Now, Billy Kiosoglou and Philippin Frank got designers to reflect on how they have changed since their university days. Surprisingly, most wake up significantly earlier as design practitioners compared to the time when they were design students.
Imagine if you had a hidden talent that only existed in your dreams, never being able to be transferred to your real life. What if you then found out that this talent was in fact real? This is kind of what happened to Welsh/Australian artist Lee Hadwin, a man with no inkling of being an […]
An app that records and monitors what you speaks in your sleep at night? Yes, it exists. That’s not all. In fact, a documentary is now being shot revolving around people whose lives have been changed since they started using the app. As the trailer shows, a guy discovered his singing voice, while a woman […]

We can always rely on Japan to bring a little bit of weird to our everyday lives, and they’ve just brought it to our daily coffee fix. The Soineya ‘co-sleeping specialty shop’ is allowing visitors to sleep with the girl of their dreams for around $80. And we mean, literally, sleeping. The cafe is located […]
