In an attempt to have a more comfortable life, Sim Jae-duck, a Korean activist from Suwon, south of Seoul, decided to build a house of extraordinary proportions. The result is a 4,508-sq-foot toilet-style structure in the shape of a toilet. It’s a symbol of Korean hygiene. Sim Jae-duck, who is the President of the Inaugural General Assembly of the World Toilet Association, nicknamed his home, Haewoojae, which in Korean means ‘the place or sanctuary where you can solve your problems’. It will be available for those who want to enjoy its facilities for just U$50,000 a day.
The idea of high-rise farms and gardens is nothing new at this point, but I still find the concept compelling. This Vertical Forest designed by Milan-based studio Stefano Boeri Architetti is another interesting version of the idea of urban reforestation.
A Darth Vader action figure riding a kitten like it’s a tauntaun? Sure, why not. I just hope he doesn’t wind up cutting it open to make a sleeping bag.

We asked some of New York’s more creative residents where they like to hang out in the city, and got a mixed bag of responses back. We’ll be running their insider tips over the next few weeks. This is illustrator Marcos Chin on his favorite arcade bar, aptly named … wait for it … Barcade: ‘Barcade is a time-warp into the 1980s when going to the arcade was the major past time for many of my friends and I. Lined throughout the space are a series of classic 25 cent video arcade games, like Q-bert, Donkey Kong, Arkanoid and Tetris. There’s also a pool table near the back of the space, and a terrific selection of beers to choose from. And yes, you can drink-and-play. Unlike a lot of other web comic artists, the guys at Team Society League can actually draw well. They’re also freaking hilarious. Seriously, can you top pulling God’s finger?
I stumbled across the Hello, Blue Roses track, My Shadow Falls, the other week and it set my ears alight, this subtle but beautiful song and its cascading melodic line which will at once ingrain yourself in your inner-ear iPod and then disappear out the other end, leaving only the sweetest of memories. My friend Josh Van Horne, a local Baltimore artist, did this amazing mural in our neighborhood that depicts the history of this warehouse-laden area.
