I’ve just discovered the work of Arien Valizadeh and I’m very impressed. His Iranian-American background (he studied under a master Farsi Calligrapher) has shaped his artistic vision, which maintains the classical presence of Persian figurative painting. If that’s all too much, then explore his use of print and pattern and the dramatic color schemes he employs.

WE'RE THINKING

I came across Nigel Cox’s work at the Royal Society of Portrait Painters Annual Exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London. I was blown away by his remarkable, detailed figures and his minimal compositions. His paintings are subtly powerful and filled with optimism and confidence. Three of the hotel rooms were redesigned by the memebers in Chaos*Lounge, which is a team of professinal, amateur, illustrators and designers established on the internet. WE'RE WEARING

Now this is fun. This 3D watch dial actually jumps to life. The dial is a modern version of the 19th century art form of lithophanes: carved porcelain sheets that, when lit, deliver astoundingly detailed images. When the pusher is activated, the dial springs to life in 3D, with an LED light and afterglow effect.
