My dad hadn’t heard of Damien Hirst until the British artist’s recent headline-making and record-breaking auction. My dad said, ‘I like his art. It is happy and cute’. I guess a sheep preserved in formaldehyde is sorta cute, now that I think about it.
Jessica Fortner’s beautifully luminous illustrations look like stills from a yet unrealized psychedelic anime film. Someone should get Alejandro Jodorowsky to write a script. Read more

This café, cookie shop, ice cream place in Cobble Hill Brooklyn is all about flavor, aroma and family. Their cookies and ice cream are absolutely to-die-for, and the place is so well-designed, painted in vintage colors with old family pictures printed on the walls, that you’ll want to indulge yourself for more than just a few minutes. Try their Whoopies and Lucia cookies. They’re my favourite.
This is a simple blog featuring photos of Charlie, a coyote who lives with a person and some other animals. There are a lot of cute animal photoblogs out there, but this one is more concerned with motion, elegance, outdoor scenery, and frequent use of Old West-y sepia tones that highlight Charlie’s amazing fur texture. I don’t do yoga. I have nothing against it, but it just seems a little too new agey for me. However, if I do eventually try it, I’d like the instructor to put on Fabio Orsi’s moody, ambient, drone experiments. Using piano, guitar, percussion, field recordings, and various sampled elements, Orsi creates some beautiful, meditative pieces that, while undeniably fruity, are still weird enough to hold my interest.
