The use of the tree in the realm of the fine arts seems infinite. An inspired Shih Yun Yeo recently conceived of a truly unique study. The artist engaged in ‘collaboration’ with various trees in Singapore, collecting a number of drawings for a solo exhibition in 2011. The work relates heavily to her attempt to ‘release drawing from its enslavement to the artist’s hand’. Poetic and romantic, the expression cedes control to the natural environment as a creative source. Green envy.
