Finding inspiration from his childhood doodles, artist Loren Kreiss brings his new solo show Say Hello to My Little Friends to New York’s Fuller Building on May 28. I not only want to say Hello, I want to meet these evolved beasts. I treasure the moment when I see the direct relationship between artist and art work and recognize the defining moment when the artist let’s the pieces go to create a life of their own. The sense of humor behind Kriess’ work is such clever wit: each name is an ode to pop culture and playful minion-making. Selfishly, I am partial to The Allegra Twins, as this is my middle name, and smirk in the knowledge that these jovial gals are up to no good.
Scott Hansen is one of my favorite designers right now. His work is super fresh, yet an ode to vintage aesthetic, without ever being over the top or corny. Check out his daily musings and peep some of his amazing prints which are for sale. Read more
A lot of my illustrations are concerned with the relationship between the strange and the mundane. I’m inspired by nature, late-night talk radio, and children’s programming. I love using colour, and most of my work is done using traditional media. Read more

Instead of demolishing the old Paddington Reservoir, architects TZG have incorporated into the design a new outdoor public garden in Paddington, Sydney. The results are stunning, with the nineteenth century structures providing an amazing starting point. Looking less like a garden and more like an overgrown ancient city, with the remnants of historic walls and vaults, this new public space is well worth frequent visits.

Lindstrom, the man who single-handedly coined the term ‘minimal space-disco’ (well, perhaps nudged in the right direction by Orbital et al), recently released a new, rather ambitious, album, Where You Go I Go Too. Weaving between ambient trance and breakbeat-flecked disco, the producer responsible for the mesmerizing reworking of that tune we all secretly love, Roxy Music’s Avalon, has produced a worthy follow-up to his 2006 album, ‘It’s A Feedility Affair’. This time, however, there’s only three tracks, ranging between 10 and 29 minutes in length, and the Eno/Ferry influence is thankfully clear to all.

I disagree, but the Tights are not pants manifesto is pretty funny. There’s some history and arguments on why tights shouldn’t be worn as pants, and a downloadable kit with printable flyers to spread the word. A commendable effort. Do you agree tights are not pants? I’m all for tights as pants, as long they’re, ahem, worn well.
