Oh, hooray. Finally. About bloody time, Mr David Firth, you demented, brilliant animation whiz. After a three year hiatus, Salad Fingers is back, and us devotees will all sleep a little less comfortably again.

More manic madness from Salad Fingers creator, David Firth. In Firth’s own words, Pulch is ‘about a giant Pulch that grows in order to cheer people up’. But of course, like all of his animations, it comes with a dark twist. Or three.
UK-based Ashwin Patel has created a topical graphic design-related poster outlining the stereotypical ‘must haves’ of today’s designers. The poster illustrates mind set and values to tools and appliances with the use of simple pictograms.
Great to see that our friends over at South African low cost airline Kulula are still flying with a mischevious metaphorical smile wiped right across their planes. Cheeky? Yes. But we love the irreverence. Read more

When I first moved to London and didn’t know a soul, I joined up with the British Film Institute [BFI] and started going to the talks they put on. Metronomy are a cool little London-based group headed by producer and remix extraordinaire, Joseph Mount. The sound sits somewhere between Autechre and Vitalic: clanging keyboards and body-gurning beats laced with an undercurrent of ominous electronica. It’s not as inaccessible as much of the more twisted electro-based stuff out there at the moment, although it retains an edge perhaps unpalatable for some ears. Yet there’s a catchiness to it that is clearly roping in the crowds: their live shows are a spectacle, complete with synchronised dancing and flashing costumes. If that floats your boat, they’re playing for free at the Tate Britain, London, on 27 September.
