Ron English, one of the most prolific and influential contemporary artists, will be premiering his new solo exhibition at the Opera Gallery in New York on November 1. His latest body of work is entitled Crucial Fiction, and his exhibit will be on display until November 2. In the meantime, here’s a little sneak peek at his newest work.

My solo show, Crucial Fiction, opens November 1 at Opera Gallery NYC. It’s a collaboration with my former self. I thought it was time to ask my inner child to help me remember what it was that he saw so that I could finally animate his vision. I also curated the Politics and Art November issue of Juxtapoz Magazine.

It’s full of intriguing articles about artists working in a political vein and features quite a few artists and filmmakers who may be new to Juxtapoz readers. And then I’m painting a massive mural on Mulberry Street in Little Italy, as well as an installation inside Caroline’s Comedy Club in early November as part of NYC’s Comedy Festival this year. So if you’re in downtown Manhattan next month, look for a large “hulking” Temper Tot on a wall above you.

Pop agit hero and occasional Lost At E Minor contributor Ron English played a typically clever, snide, brilliant April Fools joke down on the US-Mexico border last week, though, as our friends at Boing Boing note: ‘this piece of sociopolitical satire is going to backfire because the Tea Party will find out about it and demand that it be permanently installed at every border crossing’.

It’s hard to believe that South Park has been on television for fifteen years now, but it has. And to celebrate, artist (and Lost At E Minor contributor) Ron English has curated an art show on the beloved crude animated series.

The exhibit, which is being held at the Opera Gallery in New York, stars fifteen pop culture artists, such as Kathie Olivas, Lindsey Way, and Sas Christian, who have premiered their interpretations of the famous child TV characters. The exhibit runs until April 10, so make sure you head on over to Soho and check it out.

Lost At E Minor contributor Ron English has a new artwork available based around the Andy Warhol adage: ‘I’d like my own tombstone to be blank. No epitaph, and no name. Well, actually, I’d like it to say “figment”‘. In collaboration with metal experts Fully Visual, English has been happy to oblige. The statue is in Bronze and White Bronze, stands 7.5” tall, and ‘features an iconic Warholian wispy wigged skull atop a turtle-necked tombstone’.
