British illustrator Richard Beacham plays with both cartoony styles and more traditional draftsmanship, drawing from archival photos and film stills as well as his own imagination to create really expressive images. Some of them (look around on his site) are strangely reminiscent of Simon Bisley’s work, only less muscles-and-boobs-centric.
Tiana Markova’s fascinating fly-on-the-wall account of a day in the life of a high class prostitute, Jenna, is tastefully done yet provocatively revealing. Jenna’s captions provide the detail to accompany each shot. Of the photo above, she says: ‘Unpacking at the hotel in Miami. I couldn’t wait to take off my clothes and walk around naked! I hate winter almost more than anything’. Read more
Kristen Ferrell’s artwork is, as her bio puts it, beauty vs. grotesque’ and I’ve always been fascinated by it. I’m not an art critic, but my kids refer to her work as both ‘really beautiful’ and ‘really icky’, which I think sums it up nicely. Read more
Rarely is a film politically poignant as well as wonderfully written, acted and shot. The second feature from director Kimberly Peirce of Boys Don’t Cry was inspired by her brother, who joined the army, and was only possible after months of meticulous research. Read more
Hotel Sunline Kamata is located in Kamata, Japan. Three of the hotel rooms were redesigned by the memebers in Chaos*Lounge, which is a team of professinal, amateur, illustrators and designers established on the internet. Instead of a king-size bed and breathtaking view, the imaginative illustrations are all over the walls and ceiling. Read more

Made of sustainable ebony wood and running on automatic movement instead of batteries, this limited-edition watch is green down to the shipping of the raw materials. Every raw material used in making this watch is recyclable (the aluminum, the steel, and the mineral crystal are all 100% recyclable), and it also includes solvent free links and is shipped by sea rather than by air. The Ray has a five-year warranty, meaning that it has a longer life than normal watches.
