Continuing our recent obsession with outrageous swimming pool designs, is this one by The Office for Metropolitan Architecture — led by Rem Koolhaas, Ole Scheeren, Ellen van Loon, Reinier de Graaf, Shohei Shigematsu and Victor van der Chijs. According to architect, Michael van der Gaag, who wrote about the project: ‘The client wanted a glass house with a swimming pool on the roof and two separate apartments — one for the parents, the other for the daughter’. Architect Rem Koolhaas’s wacky building design for the already overflowing city of Dubai is not, apparently, based on Star Wars’ infamous Deathstar, but instead on a Japanese Panasonic radio from the early 1970s.
These rather awesome pet portraits by Wary Meyers are painted from descriptions provided to the artist of the ‘pet’s personality, likes, dislikes, temperament, favorite toys, favorite places, favorite treats’. Read more

After weeks of packing Australia’s crate with the best of Aussie nightlife, our crate was farewelled in lavish style at the Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange send-off party in Sydney last week. We discovered Australia is swapping with Brazil, so we’re hanging out for the samba and cachaça to sway ashore and lead us astray. They have a much more complex and technical approach than other bands of this ilk, revealing post-hardcore and death metal influences as evidenced by guitarist Andrew Hock’s work in deathgrind outfit Biolich and Boston jazz/death/doom band Ehnahre.
Yestadt Millinery is a New York-based custom, handmade hat company that produces some pretty classy headware inspired by vintage looks but designed to suit modern styles. You can get a made-to-measure piece or make a wholesale order – their hats are also available at retailers around Manhattan such as Anthropologie and The Hat Shop.

Italian brand Brionvega has resurrected the classy Radiofonografio piece first created in 1965. The updated version is just like the original turntable/radio unit, but also has a CD/DVD player.
