I think Ice Cube has a bit of an identity crisis on his hands. This video makes it pretty obvious. This is a sort of music video, a really weird music video. Between the gangster rap lyrics and family-friendly video clips, Ice Cube can’t decide if he’s a bad boy or a family man. What […]
As Google Search SVP Amit Singhal wrote in a blog post unveiling Google’s new Hummingbird algorithm: ‘Now you can ask any question on the powerful little device in your pocket’. Naturally, we decided to ask Google how well it was into rap by running searches of iconic rap lyrics. Obviously we get a kick out […]
Two of the rap games bigger up-and-comers, Danny Brown and A$AP Rocky, are no strangers to being lavish, eye grabbing, and bold. Noisey’s YouTube channel had a creative idea to sit the two young lyricists down in a multi-part series to talk about everything from girls to rock stars, to drug experiences to Ol’ Dirty […]
This is perfect: the most banal lyrics from rap tunes, superimposed against beautifully lit, inspirational pictures. Not sure who’s behind this brilliant Tumblr, but he or she sure has the mordant mission of ‘celebrating the poetic beauty of rap lyrics’ down pat.
Rapper Bun B and music critic Shea Serrano teamed up for Bun B’s Jumbo Coloring and Rap Activity Tumblr, a collection of rap coloring and activity pages you can print out and color. The actual book will be out this fall. Start the kids young, we say.

But before you go digging for the receipt whilst fantasising about your exchange gift, I strongly urge you to give it a go. Quite simply, The Rap Board is a soundboard of rapper catch-phrases […]
I’m not a hip-hop expert. I’m just a suburban kid who listened to a fair share of it growing up. I loved ’90s hip-hop. It seemed grittier and more interesting than the materialistic top-40 rap of the early Aughts. I sort of gave up on hip-hop for a while. Recently, though, I’ve been hearing some really great stuff. Lil Boosie is a dude from Baton Rouge. He’s in prison awaiting trial for murder.
Get Em Mamis is a fantastic Baltimore rap duo that played the Whartscape Festival this past weekend. I fed them tacos. Check out their latest album, TerAwesome, especially the single, Work, or this older track, Cold Summer.
