Wow. To cheer up a 12-year-old boy who has muscular dystrophy and has to steer away from most physical activities, Slovenian photographer-psychologist Matej Peljhan shot a photo series of him doing what he wished he could: play basketball, swim, breakdance break dance, swim and even fly thanks to a red balloon. Looking at these pictures, I think Peljhan just cheered up the rest of us too.

At first sight, Canadian photographer François Brunelle’s pictures appear like conventional family portraits. But it’s all the more astonishing that the people you see on his photos don’t even know each other.

Illustration has been part of my life for ever in one way or another: drawing at school at the end of the notebook, working or just painting every wall I could. When I draw, I feel like I leave a small part of me in that drawing, because an image is worth more that words. My most recent project is called Good Girls and it consists of five illustration of five different women I once met, including myself. Every one of them is viewed as a bad girl as a consequence of their actions, but if anyone would get to know them, they would realize that they are good girls inside. People tend to judge other people really quickly, without giving them a chance. My illustrations want to send a message, to make you think twice before giving someone a label.

In her latest body of work, multi-media artist Siolo Thompson takes on the anxiety of our uncertain political, economic and environmental future and the impact our mistakes and the mistakes of those before us will have on the next generation.

This collection of paintings features several large scale portraits that depict children on the cusp of adulthood posed as kings or queens and they ask us to consider the flawed kingdom that these young people stand to inherit. Through the lens of these paintings Ms. Thompson, examines the fact that we live in a time when our country teeters on the edge of economic disaster, warmongering politicians preach a gospel of intolerance and hate and our planet is poisoned and getting worse. There is no calm certainty in the future of these little kings, their future is as delicate and transient as their own youthful beauty.

Oh my god, Red Hong has done it again! This time, the immensely creative girl has come up with a portrait that is entirely created from socks. It looks a bit like she wanted to make sure that she never has to look for the other missing sock any more in her life. I like that idea as my socks seem to have a life of their own.
