Lifelounge’s Luke Lucas is one of the guest speakers at this year’s Semi-Permanent conference in Perth on April 8th. We caught up with him recently and asked him about the latest with Lifelounge: ‘After eight years of working in the our tin shed with few comforts, we finally renovated Lifelounge HQ at the start of this year. It’s about billion times better than before with a fully stocked bar, climate control, insulation and heaps more room (which we’ve already outgrown). We’ve also just secured a second premise that we’re about to commence the fit out on in early April. Workwise, we’re about to send the 11th edition of Lifelounge Magazine off to print’. Read more

Paintings from Nicholas Aoki’s new solo exhibition, Goodnight; Sweet, Hearts blur two worlds — one of mortals and one of Gods, skeletons and creature spirits. The Toronto-based Aoki uses watercolors and acrylics to create rich landscapes that he layers with the characters in this journey to death. And while the paintings contain a dark subject matter, they also contain flashes of light — a glowing full moon, say, or lamp posts helping guide the way.
Cat-haters, or those simply too jaded by a lifetime of LOLcats, will get a kick out of this site, which wryly refuses to be wowed by any degree of feline adorability. But then, cat worshippers like myself will also enjoy the site, as it is still full of cats n’ kittens. Read more
Though most people in the West think of mahjong as a mysterious game old Chinese people play, it’s actually gets quite rowdy when people get together to play it. Rowdy is certainly a good adjective for Mahjongg, the exquisitely danceable electro-whatever outfit from Chicago who draw as much from Afrobeat as they do vocoder-laden sleaze rock from the 70s.
