Australian jewellery designer Polly van der Glas has released her latest collection, which makes my teeth ache. Her latest pieces feature human teeth. Yes, you’re reading correctly. Taking old teeth from donations in Australia from friends and family who have had teeth extracted from normal dental procedures, Van Der Glas sterilizes each tooth, then sets them into rings, pendents and necklaces. It makes interesting viewing, but I think I’ll leave it at that. Some strangers’ tooth on my hand just isn’t right!
This medium size leather handbag from Novella Royale, with large stud detail all over, was made from vintage leather jackets. Fun, huh?
Though artistic genres from the last couple centuries inform Marc Burckhardt’s style, he is not a period fetishist. The playful way in which he incorporates visual jokes and modern themes has a simplicity to it, making each of his images self-contained and elegant. Read more
After weeks of packing Australia’s crate with the best of Aussie nightlife, our crate was farewelled in lavish style at the Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange send-off party in Sydney last week. We discovered Australia is swapping with Brazil, so we’re hanging out for the samba and cachaça to sway ashore and lead us astray. No Age are doing something different to the mass of noise-laden, guitar-drum duos canvasing the lo-fi airwaves at the moment. I’m just not sure quite what. Their album, Nouns, is receiving top-rate reviews after sell-out crowds after screaming, obsessive fans. The music is simply massive: a vast landscape of heat haze, somehow both tranquil and manic, punctuated by singer Dean Sprouts backdrop of barely intelligible vocals and Randall’s distorted, archaic sounding drums.
‘Les gens courageux’ is French for ‘the fearless ones’, and if you wear this slim-fitting white v-neck combed cotton t shirt, with the Vaughn de Heart logo on the left sleeve, you’ll be fearless, too. Yes, we promise.
