I’m really excited about the Melbourne band Plug-in City. They remind me of Belle & Sebastian, The Kooks and Cut Copy all in one. What more can us New Yorkers ask for?
Blood is the New Black’s line of t-shirts boast the line’s beautifully architectured promise of the shirts being pieces of art on their own. With an impressive line-up of artists contributing to the design, there is a variety of concepts in play: from loud abstracts to lomo film-esque photographs.
Think Geek is singularly responsible for providing me with all my post-peak-oil needs, such as this Swedish FireSteel — a sort of compact flint that you can keep on your keychain — that can be used to light campfires, gas stoves, and grills without the use of electricty.
Oh, ok, so now I’ve seen it all. Or perhaps, in this case, I’m not seeing enough. Japanese game shows are so much fun. Seriously.

The Duchesses recently sent us a copy of their latest EP, By Morning, released in April at the Excelsior Hotel in Sydney. The atmospheric four-track cuts through the usual noise and delivers a rhythmic mix of guitars, beats and vocals. It has our Newcastle office surging (singing?) through the dark lows and the hopeful highs. Read more
