This year’s Phuket Vegetarian Festival may have just passed, but the scary images we’ve seen aren’t leaving us alone just yet. Contrary to the peaceful connotations of its name, the festival — celebrated by Thai-Chinese devotees on the island — is more of a graphic visual assault, heavy on street processions and ritualistic practices involving hot oil baths, extreme self-mutilation and fire-walking.
FOR CREATIVE INSPIRATION
In partnership with our friends at Optus, we present the third in a three part Lost At E Minor video series that puts the spotlight on some young, handpicked Australian creatives, doing inspirational things within their chosen fields. Episode Three features 16-year old Melbourne-based producer, Gab Strum (aka Japanese Wallpaper), who has racked up thousands of plays over the past year or so via a number of well-blogged remixes ranging from City Calm Down and The Townhouses to bootlegs of The xx and Bon Iver.
