This superbly original billboard culture jam from the FTW-Crew (Epoxy One, Mr Tailon and Baveux Production) in Berlin shows how much work goes into looking effortless.
Named as one of the 200 Best Illustrators Worldwide by Lürzer’s Archive, Carson Ting works as an advertising art director by day where he has won numerous international and national advertising awards for brands such as Sony, Lexus, Vespa, Goodyear and Dunlop. He co-founded Chairman Ting Industries, an illustration and design workshop based in Vancouver, with his fiancé, Denise Cheung earlier this year as a side project. Read more

Says Van She bassist and vocalist Matt Van Schie about the Bush Tetras track — Too Many Creeps — from 1982: ‘I LOOOVE this tune. It opens with a perfect snare roll, and then the counter bass and guitar rhythms make it so cool. The lyrics are even more valid today. They’re one of my favourite bands of all time, and so many people try to do what they did for real. What a time! I wish I was born back then in New York, hanging out with these kids. Ahhhh!!’
Only in Japan? Well, maybe. Though Oklahoma may be a close second on the radar. Apparently, in this time of recession, Japanese men have taken rather fondly to inanimate objects rather than the real thing as a less expensive way to, err, fulfill their needs. TIME magazine’s annual Person of the Year issue is coming out this week. I illustrated one of the runner-ups, but of course, I have to keep my mouth completely shut. I don’t know who is the winner though. On TIME’s website, you can see all the past covers of this most talked about issue of each year. It’s a good time to look back history and learn from it anyway, don’t you think?
David Holmes’ fourth solo album has been a long time in the making. The man who is best known for his scoring of films such as Ocean’s 11, 12 and 13, and remixing for bands like U2 and The Manic Street Preachers, took just over ten years to make his latest album. Read more
