Colombian artist Diana Beltran Herrera crafts paper exhibits of the ‘chillingly disengaged relationship’ between the human existence and nature around us. Her series of realistic paper sculptures explores themes of temporality, change and transformation through displays of various bird and flower species that have recently suffered as their habitats have changed.
Alexei Lyapunov and Lena Ehrlich must have a really calm hand and a vivid fantasy. At least, that’s what’s needed for their kind of sophisticated paper cut art. The two Russians from Novosibirsk create complex scenes out of colored paper. The result is pretty amazing and brings you right back into childhood.
Bovey Lee is a full-time artist, living and working in Philadelphia. Originally from Hong Kong, Lee creates highly intricate paper-cuts on rice paper by hand (no laser cutting machines involved) and then backs them with silk.
