I can’t make it to the Renaissance Festival this year, but this little flash game has been helping me let off some steam with some ‘olde’-fashioned fun. The object of the game is to destroy castles by aiming a catapult. You can even build your own castle!

Angular Momentum is a fun little game which is a little like pinball in that you use your arrow keys to shift a ball’s momentum to propel it through a series of maze-like tubes. The first few levels are easy enough to be addictive, but there are enough obstacles to keep things interesting. [after killing half a day on this game, have a crack at Kitten Cannon]

Robot and the Cities that Build Him isn’t a complicated game. In fact, the ability to use a mouse is about all the skill the game requires. That’s exactly what makes it such a time vortex. You are a giant robot that is seeking revenge on humanity. The lasers from your eyes shoot automatically, so you don’t have to aim or press anything to destroy the pathetic humans. Watch out for the ones with circular saws for heads, though. They shoot back. [also waste an hour playing Kitten Cannon]

I caught Chicago’s Ga’an the other night at the Empty Bottle, and they blew me away. I’d never heard of these guys, but they make driving, gothic prog sounds like satanic Krautrock with guitar, bass, keyboards, drums, and the night I saw them, a female vocalist. There is no distinct frontman, but for me, drummer Seth Sher’s intense and precise playing was the highlight of the show.
Alfred Hitchcock’s icy heroines inspired Yeojin Bae’s Autumn Winter 09 collection. Its 40s noir meets modern day muse with seductive tailoring and asymmetric style. Yeojin Bae’s signature has become ultra-feminine shapes contrasted with coveted tailored separates Unravelled shapes are expertly tailored. Raw edge silk blouses have dipping necklines and are worn boxy and loose. Wool Angora overcoats feature a dramatic bias cut hem and buckled flare sleeve in black or herringbone. Flame red chiffon falls delicately into an asymmetric wrap skirt, as figure hugging stretch leggings bring billowing shapes back into the body. Read more
