Winners of Nikon’s microscope photo contest

The winners of Nikon’s annual Small World microscope photography contest have just been announced, and out of over 2,000 images, 20 of the best photomicrograph entries were chosen. In this selection of winners, you can see a wide variety of stunning microscopic subjects. The first place winner is an image of the blood-brain barrier in a zebrafish embryo, which Nikon believes to be the first image of this subject matter ever captured in a live animal.
