Dublin art director Kirk Bannon recently showed me this spectacular shot taken from his window whilst staying in New York’s Palace Hotel. If you’re a fan of type, you’ll recognize the iconic signage from the New York Magazine sign, which was replaced by Burberry in 2009. What are the odds of capturing this moment? Type strapped down, just before the truck drives away. I don’t think anyone else in the world has this photograph in their personal collection.

The magazine features in-depth stories about your favorite rappers, favorite hustlers, usually touching tales of upward mobility and informative accounts of business dealings. It’s like The Wall Street Journal with less white people. The mag is my go to for all of my studio sessions. Perfect for reading between loading session files and as a surface to roll one up on.

Henry Hargreaves‘ introduction to the photography industry began in front of the camera as he was the pin-up boy for such fashion houses as Prada, YSL, Jil Sander and others. Four years ago, Hargreaves settled in New York and began work out of his studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, shooting fashion and still life for clients such as Ralph Lauren, New York Magazine, GQ, NYLON, Boucheron, Marie Claire and others. This work is from his Food of the Rainbow series, which was styled by Lisa Edsalv.
