New Eyes Open, sponsored by We Are The Image Makers and Semi Permanent, will feature new work by thirty Australian artists, the majority of whom are emerging artists, with an aim to reinvent and open your eyes to contemporary Australian art. Amongst those showing are Kareena Zerefos, Ben Frost [above] and Jirat James Patradoon. New Eyes Open runs between April 1 and 9 at the aMBUSH Gallery in Sydney’s Waterloo.
I can’t seem to look at Matthew Lyons’ work enough. Equal parts structured genius and elegant whimsy, his illustrations show a future that the 1970s issues of Popular Mechanics had promised us. Read more
Phillip Low combines acrylic and lucite to make fantastic gem-like sculptures, which are possibly just as pretty in photographs as they are in three dimensions.

I went into this taxidermy store today in the Mission, San Francisco. There’s something appealing about dead stuffed animals trying to look cute.
This is a friend of mines’ blog. Her name is Nirrimi. She takes really amazing photos, and she makes great little films, too. I did the music score for one a while back. Her blog is like a novel that just plays out slowly but happens in real life. Well worth reading if you’re into photography and good, honest writing. Read more
NASA has released some pretty amazing audio recordings of sounds from the moons of Saturn. The weirdest thing about them is that they actually sound like Theremin warbles and echoey whooshy sounds from ‘50s movies about space.
