To listen to Brooklyn band Natureboy is to enter a submerged world. When I first heard them perform live, I was hypnotized. The second time, I walked up to singer-songwriter Sara Kermanshahi and asked her if she wanted to collaborate. The result is the music video Sugar, from their forthcoming album, The Sweep.

UK brother duo Disclosure, or Guy and Howard Lawrence as they are known individually, are one of my favourite acts to surface recently on the electronic music scene. First grabbing my attention back in 2012 with their killer tune Control, they’re back now with the release of their music video for White Noise, featuring AlunaGeorge. Seyra, a Singapore band, has released their latest music video for their new single Send Me On, an indie-pop tune that gives you a warm fuzzy feeling. I came across this Ontario band thanks to NPR’s awesome Tiny Desk concerts. Built around singer and songwriter Tony Dekker, this is music that really touches the soul. This video is a three-song set which includes Everything is Moving So Fast, Pulling on a Line and Various Stages. His voice and music makes me wonder about the world we live in and the contrast between all the good things and bad things that happen every day.

My new EP, The Sudden Stop, was released worldwide on February 14. I use songs to tell myself things I need to hear. As a kind of therapy, I guess. I see two versions of myself with different characteristics. These two guys are at it most of the time, constantly arguing. I kind of write songs so I can hear the words come back to me like anybody else would.

If you’re looking for a good laugh, you should definitely check out Wax’s latest video for his tune, Rosana. It’s Spanish flavored and infused with more then a hint of Mexican. In fact, you could liken the clip to a perfect burrito. It’s outer tortilla is the catchy beat which holds the song together, with the lyrics acting as meat dipped in a little spice. The crunchy salad comes in the form of a sweet Mexican two piece and it’s all finished off with a little sauce; hello Rosana. Even if you don’t like the clip, it’s still a banging good tune, if you know what I mean.

Sia is one of my favourite Australian musicians, known for her quirky pop songs and voice that makes easy work of big ballads. Way back in 2008, she released a vivid and colourful music video to accompany her song, Soon We’ll Be Found. Incorporating a great deal of sign language, the video never fails to remind of the Happy Hands Club from Napoleon Dynamite.

I was lucky enough to catch the Alterna-Punk band Future Of The Left on tour in St. Louis this winter while I was home for the holidays. I have been a fan of Andy ‘Falco’ Falkous for years, going back to his previous band Mclusky. He is a force of nature. This show featured a blistering hour and a half set full of songs from all of their albums, as well as a couple Mclusky songs. The show culminated with some audience members getting on stage to help the band play out the last song. ruly one of my most memorable concert experiences. Their most recent video for I Am The Least Of Your Problems is on their website, and they are apparently in the studio recording new music as you read this.

Flashing lights, neon colors, flying sparks, and unnerving blank masks. Crystal Castles never ceases to deliver subtly twisted imagery that makes me want to cry and dance at the same time. Something about the dark, moody grunge of it is very appealing as the scenes flip back and forth. I feel like I’m watching someone’s old home video remixed by a very high DJ.

They work as a totally DIY project, with the help of a small group of creatives between Greece and England – producing an abrasive yet beautifully ethereal sound. Set to the Canopy Climbers’ single, Far, Los Angeles filmmaker Danny Brown shot an awesome music video composed of silhouettes of classically-trained dancers double exposed against the backdrop of the LA cityscape. Shot using a Krasnogrosk 16mm camera and consuming around a total of 400 feet of film, the result is simply gorgeous and inimitable.

Twin Shadow’s video for Five Seconds, a track from George Lewis Jr. and band’s new record, Confess is pretty epic. Not only is the song worthy of putting on repeat, but the video (directed by Keith Musil, with the story told my Lewis himself) features badass gangs, motorcycle stunts, amazing outfits, and heroic fight scenes.

This dad from Portland, James Winter, bought shades and staches for his kids and nephew and remade the Beasties’ “Sabotage” music video as a sort of tribute to the late Adam Yauch. It’s quite a riot. The kids look like they’re having fun, and not being exploited for their cute factor.
