That’s right, some wonderfully talented and imaginative people teamed up with school kids to make a twenty foot balloon Acrocanthosaurus for display at the Virginia Museum of Natural History. Using a real skeleton of the dinosaur as a guide, they tried to make it as realistic as possible. However, nobody really knows what their skin looked like, so for all we know, this dinosaur could have been tie-dye.

Tucked inside the city of Reykjavík is a sleek, modern-looking little museum that just so happens to display nearly 300 phallus specimens from water and land mammals, including (supposedly) those from Iceland’s “Huldufólk,” i.e., elf-like “hidden people.” The Icelandic Phallological Museum features clean lines and a tidy installation that make it look like it could be just another one of Reykjavík’s chic design boutiques, but no, this place is actually a big ol’ collection of male genitalia. Fortunately, there’s a range of souvenirs to take home as well, including T-shirts, mink penises; and hand-carved keychains in the shape of copulatory organs. Seriously, what a bunch of dicks.

Back in 2010 when I first heard about the Museum of Broken Relationships (a traveling exhibition of donated emotionally-charged remnants from past relationships), it came across as a tad self-indulgent, or at best, whimsical.

Now that I’m reading about it again on Vice, I guess I see how significant it must be to those who have contributed to it, or to those looking at the objects. It was started by exes Olinka Vištica and Dražen Grubišić after their 2003 breakup and I imagine It must be a bit like exorcising your demons through the fallen demons of others.
