I’m ashamed to admit that after 26 years on this planet, I only recently started listening to the outstanding musical offerings of Tom Waits. However, it is true that he does sound a little like the Cookie Monster. This video collides their worlds to joyous effect.

Tiny Fuppets is a ridiculous new web series, based off an already famous TV series that you might know. This show may force you to ask the questions: is this supposed to be this bad, or is this for real? The amazing subtitles are all part of the beauty, and the more you watch, the funnier the show gets!

I have discovered the greatest music video ever created. Adult Swim asked Mastodon for a song for their Singles Program: ‘when they sent us this incredible jam, we knew we had to make a video for it.’ And they did. Watch on in awe.

Hooray! They’re back. Those furry, fluffy, feisty bastions of cultural integrity. The Muppets are hitting the big screen once again, and life may never quite be the same again. [watch The Muppets perform Stand By Me]

From the world of whacky, creative proposals comes this exceptional effort from Sid to his bride-to-be, Sara. He designed and ordered up two Muppets that resembled the couple, created a moving homage to their love, then organised for the video to be screened as a trailer on December 12th, 2010, at the Red River Theater in Concord New Hampshire. Impressive. The whole behind the scenes story to the video is here, and it’s absolutely riveting.

Who didn’t grow up with Kermit the frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo the Great and buddies? Inspired by a trip to the Jim Henson’s Fantastic World exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry, and the ever-expanding buzz around the new Jason Segel-helmed Muppet Movie, 21 year-old graphic designer Eric Slager created a series of minimal Muppets portraits that are truly cute. Nothing is sacred these days, not even the biggest viral marketing craze of 2010. With their usual wittery, The Muppets’ have taken the you-know-what out of you-know-who, and Old Spice will never seem quite the same again.

We all know that Kermit has the best legs in the business. But looking at this clever design by Joshua Kemble — entitled Puppet Check Up — his insides are handy too.

Nothing super elaborate, but this video of two of my favorite movies mashed up into one is hilarious for its simplicity. Who knew Kermit could be so stingy and cynical?

Here’s a fun little puzzle game based on Wallace and Gromit where you piece various cogs together to complete a spaceship to take the dog-man duo to the moon.
In Japan, when one makes squeezing gestures with both hands at chest level, one is gesturing that one wants candy — soft, round, bouncy candy. At least, that’s what this commercial would have us believe.
Too beautiful to simply pass by, this is the Ring House by young Japanese architectural firm, TNA. Read more
Woohoo! Another flash game that actually tests your cognitive abilities. LightBot is a difficult, but satisfying game in which you direct a little robot using a system of simple commands in order to light up various squares on a grid. The first few levels guide you through the seemingly easy process, but when there are multiple sets of directions requiring you to write what are essentially codes, it can get pretty hairy.
It’s pretty bold to release a 25 track double CD as your first album, but singer-songwriter Benji Hughes doesn’t care. Themes of love and heartbreak run though the album and his folk-tinged pop draws comparisons to Beck, The Eels and The Magnetic Fields. [portrait by Vanessa Prager]

To be honest, I can’t bring myself to care about the new TSA scanners in airports. It’s not like they can’t already see and know everything about you already. However, I love these garments with the 4th Amendment printed on them in metallic ink so that the text show up clearly on scanners.
