Combining objects in unexpected ways challenges us to rethink our understanding of the common world. The unique way artist Myeongbeom Kim merges objects from nature with those that are man-made absolutely blows me away. Personally, I would have never though to plant a tree in a urinal. But I guess that way it gets watered.

Imagine what Twitter might have looked like some 30 years ago. Imagine what our grandparents think of when they hear about Twitter. Gaston Lisak puts those thoughts in this context: ‘my grandma, like all the grandma’s in the neighborhood, used to own a bird as a pet. However, nowadays the bird cage is open and the bird has been replaced by that of Twitter’. This is his contribution for the Mobile Museum, Beijing Edition, on the theme of TODAY.

Dutch artist Sebastiaan Bremer specializes in collage photos. His dreamy imagery is bathed in sunshine and ink designs that resemble confetti. These warm, sunny photo pieces feel like the best memories of yesteryear. Bremer has been using this unique mixed media technique since 1999. It seems like he’s mastered the technique over that period of time because every scene is strikingly beautiful and unique.

I’m an artist creative type working in mixed media, installation and photography, with a love of collecting, finding the irony, beauty, and fury, and putting it all together and making it pop with humour and wit. My latest show, Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend: An Exhibition Fit For A Queen, is timed to coincide with the Queens Diamond Jubilee and asks the question, ‘Is it time this fairytale came to it’s end?’ It’s at Sydney’s Sheffer Gallery from now until December.
