Ok, a confession, it’s getting to the point where Das Monk t shirts are pretty much all I have in my wardrobe. I love them: the designs, the fit. So it was good to see that Marc and the gang have just released a new collection, Midnight in the Mojave, which continues their obsession with all things psychedelic. The range is inspired by ‘bad trips, drifters, and desert dreaming in the middle of nowhere’ and features the work of artists including Zach Johnsen, Tim Laing, Evan Meister, and Keenan Marshall Keller, alongside Das Monk designer Marc Hendrick. We sell Das Monk through the Lost At E Minor store, so check out some of the tees in the range. Read more

I feel I’ve been stumbling across the amazing work of David Jien quite a bit lately. Clearly everyone’s catching on to his gorgeous, morosely atmospheric drawings, with their almost text-like abstractions and barren landscapes. And to think, this kid is still in school and just getting started! Read more

The original Lomography Sidekick bag has had a revamp. Though it still maintains its 2-in-1 design, it now houses a smaller section to comfortably hold compact cameras, and a larger compartment for all the other things you need. It also fits your laptops. Oh, and the exterior is made from 100% water-resistant TPE. Fun!

What is it with message related acronyms? Soon it will get to the point where we no longer communicate in real words but instead in abbreviated codes that require a thesaurus and a yearly subscription to the Economist to understand. Spare me. Read more

I’ve been a big fan of Michelle Vandermeer’s work since I came across her Mini Majellen zines at this year’s Sydney Writers Festival. Describing herself as a doer — as in one of those people who are always doing or making something — Michelle’s work, which includes book binding, illustration, jewelery making and her zines, stems from an internal creative springboard and a double degree in architecture and graphic design. Her work is smart and succinct. Read more

Sometimes we need an ad to remind us of what’s important. Normal is beautiful. Keep our oceans alive. Vote. Be more fearless. The Whitehouse Post is an international post-production company whose projects are damn fine. In fact, they are the scary mix of wit and aesthetics that makes any message convincing. Long live Coca-Cola.

I got to check out Extra Golden the other night at the Floristree in the H & H Building in downtown Baltimore. Despite a bill of heady, contemplative, experimental music that preceded the DC-based band, the crowd was chomping at the bit to see them when they finally hit the stage well past 1am. It’s still cold and rainy here in Charm City, but these guys made it feel like summer with their sunny blend of Kenyan benga music and guitar-driven psych rock.

Made from 100 percent organic cotton and eco-friendly, this super soft tee celebrates a sinister world of kaleidoscopic colours and ripples of psychedelia, of serenading Queens, of dancing flamingos, of unimaginable euphoria.
