Miaow is a Boston-based line of handmade plush animals. They use really fantastic fabrics, and the birds and penguins have articulated wings. I wonder how well they’ll go with my Iron Maiden bed sheets.
Moon In June Press designed these beautifully simple calendars for 2011. The months run lengthwise with every Sunday numbered and highlighted in a different shade. They’re available for $15 through their website and Etsy.

Lasse Gjertsen is the future of cut and paste music. He’s just arrived ten years too early and with a really bad haircut.
Musicians in Jacksonville, Florida, often plop themselves amongst breakfasting families to nurse their hangovers at the Fox Restaurant. The food is a step above normal greasy spoon fare, but is just as cheap, with a full breakfast costing as little as three dollars. They even offer bananas as an alternative to grits or hash browns.
Says Yuko Shimizu on the artwork of legendary Japanese illustrator Katsushika Hokusai: ‘I was just at Kinokuniya Bookstore [a Japanese book store at Rockefeller Center in New York] a few days ago and bought The Complete Hokusai-Manga Sketchbooks [published by Shogakukan]. Well, today has been a great day and New Dandyism, the lovechild of a conglomate of lusty designers — Sons by Obedient Sons, wood wood and Call of the Wild — is the reason.
